I have spent over a decade in private school admissions and over 20 years in education. I can relate to parents and children going through the application process on a multitude of levels.
I understand the stress and anxiety that applying to competitive schools creates. I understand the desire to place a child in a school where he or she has the best chance of succeeding, not just in academics but in sports, the arts, and social/emotional development as well.
And, I also understand what private schools are looking for in a candidate’s application.
Additionally, I am a mom of twin daughters who attend a private elementary school. I have experienced first-hand the application process for preschool and elementary school as a parent just like everyone else.
I created Nambiar Advising to help parents—especially those moving to Los Angeles from other parts of the country or world—navigate the private school application process. With my direct experience and dedication to education, I hope to reduce the stress that families experience and to match parents and children with the best schools for them.
I look forward to connecting with you and to making this process less confusing and more successful for you.
Before I started Nambiar Advising, for eight years I was the Associate Director of Admissions for the Middle and Upper Schools at a prominent private school in Los Angeles. In that role, I interviewed over 1000 students and made admissions decisions for grades 7 through 12 based on several criteria including academic readiness, artistic interest, athletic contribution, and personality match.
Prior to that role, I was the Assistant Director of Admissions and Assistant Director of Financial Aid at a school in the San Fernando Valley. Before that, I was a Program Associate at Coalition of Essential Schools, a nonprofit in Oakland, CA dedicated to creating and sustaining personalized, equitable, and intellectually challenging schools. Earlier in my career, I was a Math Teacher at a private school in the Bay Area.
I attended high school at Crystal Springs Upland School, a private school in the Bay Area, and earned my B.A. in Education from Brown University. I earned a Masters of Education from Harvard University.

“Our entire family very much appreciates your thoughtfulness, your guidance, your diligence, and your steady hand at the Compass as we navigated high school admissions. You are not only good at what you do, but you get it done with a sense of style and panache so that a process that is akin to pulling teeth is actually reasonably enjoyable. We thank you.” — K.V, Parent of 9th Grade Applicant
