Often, families submit applications to schools merely because of hearsay, general rumors, pre-school and playground chatter, or just information gathered from websites. But finding the best place for your child is not about the reputation of the school or the cache of its pedigree. Rather, it is about your child’s strengths and interests, and where he or she will have the best chance to thrive.
Our first engagement with clients is a two-hour initial consultation and assessment. Along with report cards and other background information provided by parents, we conduct the assessment to gauge where a student is academically, developmentally, and socially. And while we assess many dimensions of a child’s personality and academic profile, we keep the process congenial and informative, so that parents and students can relax.
Afterwards, we evaluate the assessment along with our intimate knowledge of the Los Angeles private school landscape to provide a list of schools that could be a good fit for the student. These recommendations consider numerous factors, including academic ability, personality match, geography, and a school’s alignment with a family’s values and culture.
Because ultimately, success at school often is based on multiple variables: where a child feels most comfortable, where he or she is happiest, appropriate academic levels, and how a family fits in. This is the goal of the assessment: to determine the private school most likely to give a child the best potential to flourish.
